Keeping Floridians In Sight Since 1957

Our Mission: To Prevent Blindness and Preserve Sight

Prevent Blindness Florida, an affiliate of Prevent Blindness America, was established in 1957 and is the state's leading sight-saving organization. Since our inception, we have provided services including:

  • vision screening for children
  • glaucoma screening for at-risk adults
  • standardized training in recognizing potential vision problems
  • certification through the nation's only volunteer vision screening program
  • coordination of a community eye care network of ophthalmologists and optometrists who provide free exams
  • distribution of vouchers for free exams and glasses provided by our corporate sponsors
  • public information about eye health and safety, including workplace and fireworks safety
